What is Twitter worth to you?

Twitter can be addicting. It can also be very frustrating when it is down. Some people have suggested that Twitter charge for the service and use those funds to provide a more reliable “Pro” service. So, the question is “What is Twitter worth to you?”

  • I'm not going to pay for Twitter. In all honesty, I would move over to Friendfeed if Twitter went to a paid model.

Though, I'm sure they will not, as the Twitter team seems dedicated to keeping the service free.
  • I have added my vote to the $5/month variant simply because I strongly believe in paying for services that I use for business - for example, this is why we have chosen to pay for Akismet on our blog even though no one insisted we should. But the problem with Twitter is that I don't think that with more money they will be able to make it reliable - after all, it is a relatively well funded startup and the problems don't seem to be due to lack of funding.
  • Svetlana,

Sure they are "well funded" but when a copy has deeper funds they can accomplish more such as more servers, better clustering, better bandwidth, more (or better) developers (e.g. Google). We hear about all the money they received recently, but how much are they currently investing in fixing the problem and how much are they banking so they don't have a cash flow problem over time?
