Seriously, when did this become an issue? I was out driving around and decided I wanted Chinese food from Chop Suey Hut in Woodstock. I figured I go pick it up and then head over to the Sparrow’s Nest where I work (& volunteer) to see how things were going and eat my lunch. When I called it in they said 20 minutes, hmmm…, so I went to the Sparrow’s Nest first and thought, well, I’ll just eat it there so I don’t have to go all the way home and then back out again. I go to the pick up window and my food is ready, so I ask the owner (cashier was busy) if it would be ok to go inside and eat because I changed my mind about running home. He hemmed and hawed and then said, “I can’t let you do that.” I was like, ohkayyy, why not? and he said, “If I let you do that then I would have to let everyone do that.” Again, I was like, ohkayyy… and left. I should have pursued it with some other questions like these:
1) is there something wrong with the food in the bag?
2) do you often have the person picking up the order ask if they could eat inside? Because I don’t know about you, but usually when I order take out it is for 4 – 5 people and I’m the only one there.
It just seemed really odd that he wouldn’t allow me to eat the food they prepared and bagged inside their restaurant. Am I wrong?
Ok, in the last couple of days this has come up a few times so here is a list of web based project management tools.
1) Basecamp http://www.basecamphq.com/
2) Liquid Planner http://www.liquidplanner.com/ – I played with this one quite a bit in it’s Beta stages, good app.
3) Teamwork PM http://www.teamworkpm.net/ – I just started playing with this one yesterday. Easy to setup and use. Nice features.
4) DeskAway http://deskaway.com/tour/index.php – Just found out about this one, going to play with it some today I think.
5) Teamwork http://www.twproject.com/ – Found this one by accident and no idea if it’s any good
6) Clarity http://www.myclarity.com/project-portfolio-management-535.html – This is the software used at Constellation, my previous employer. I know it well. It’s a good app. There is a free version you can download if you want to use it instead of MS Project. This is an enterprise application and is good for resource management, project management and reporting. (This one is NOT web based)
If I come across any others, I’ll update my list. Hope it helps someone.
My son bought a Samsung TV a couple years ago and did not buy the service plan. This year his TV stopped working and he took it in for repair. Two months later the repair shop calls to say that they will not be receiving the part from Samsung but Samsung agreed to replace the TV with a brand new 2008 model for only $400. Great! Awesome! The TV comes back from the repair shop and he has to contact them to arrange for payment and delivery. He has to pay with a credit card in his name, which he does not have. So he looks into getting a pre-paid card but then that wouldn’t have his name on it. So one more month later we call them together and they finally agree to let me write a check and send that to them. The check was written on 6/3 and mailed the same day. Since then he has called them a couple of times a week to arrange for the shipment and exchange of his TV. Each time they tell him the check has not cleared yet. So I check with my bank and they have not even deposited it yet! Supposedly they were going to deposit it this week but as of the night of 6/27 they still have not deposited the check. Why does it take a month to deposit a check? From the initial conversation with Samsung they said once the check clears it would take 14-21 days. Guess we should have asked how long will it take you to deposit the check so it CAN clear!!!!!!!!!!! I went from thinking that they had great customer service based on the $400 exchange price to thinking it’s TERRIBLE customer service for stringing him along for so damn long. Hope I NEVER have to deal with them again.
Interacted with another Barton employee and once again felt the tinge of tears and emotion well up inside. Just when I thought I had moved past that stage. I realize now that I may never be over it. Barton was a great place to work and the people there are great. They were a part of my life for many years and I will always feel that tug of emotion when I think about them or interact with them, because I care. I know they feel the same, that’s just the way it was there. Like family.
